Printing 1:1 from sketchup (2d)

Hi all. I’m new at sketchup and still learning… Can someone please describe to me how can I print my model 1:1. I saw some videos, but I don’t have the same “print preview” option as some of them suggested. I tried to figure it our, but I have no idea. Should I get an extension for this?

Thanks for any help.

If you are using Pro - create a scene with the view you want (top, side, etc.) - send to LayOut - choose a paper size large enough to cover the shape you want to print - set the scale to 1:1 / Full Size - export to PDF - print pdf.

the shape is bigger then my paper.

Every shape will fit any paper when using the correct scale and/or paper format.

If you need to show the model using a scale of 1:!00 but it does not fit your a4 paper, try to fit it into an A3 paper with the scale 1:100.

If the scale does not matter, but you want to show it on an A4 paper, adjust the scale to 1:200 … 1:1000 … 1:10000 untill it fits

I would need it on 1:1 ratio, so I can cut to lines when gluing paper to wood for example. So I would need the program that would scale 1:1 on multiple pieces of standard A4 paper.

There’s no way that will fit on a single A4 sheet at 1:1. Set a larger paper size in LayOut’s Document>Paper. I set a custom paper size that was a little larger than the shape …

… and exported the PDF.

In the Print settings in Adobe Reader I chose the Poster print option so the shape will be spread across four A4 sheets.

Ok, I can try this way, but it seems I’m missing something. Whe I get to PDF it shows the object very small and not correct 1:1 ratio. Oh boy, it seems I have no clue what I’m doing

Did you set the viewport scale to 1:1 in LayOut? What size paper did you select?

It does seem like you need to learn to use the tools. Are you using a cr acked version of SketchUp or do you have a subscription?

I do need to learn… OK, scale was off. Now it seems it might work.

Just one more thing… how do I get rid of my grey background and replace it with grid for easier lineup when gluing?

I’m using my friends computer who has sketchup pro, and I wanted to draw this shape to print it

In the Style section of the SketchUp Model panel untick the Background box.

This will do, great, thanks again!
