Precise Drawing

I’m trying to use basic mathematics operations in Length box, but only with / its working.
Any others, like +, -, and * are not working.

No. They don’t. Is there a reason you thought they did? The slash is used primarily for fractional values.

What exactly are you trying to do? You can still do precise modeling in SketchUp.

Hello, thank you for your response.

I am using SketchUp for Students and just starting to learn.

I’m working on some basic drawings based on floor plans, where I know the internal dimensions, but I need to start by drawing the total external dimensions of the walls.

So, I would like to use the Measurements box to calculate external dimensions, as I know the internal dimensions — for example, entering something like 23 + 49.

Is that possible?

Short answer: No. It’s not. The Measurements box is not intended to do calculations.

You might have a loook at Ruby Calculator. It hasn’t been updated since 2013 but it might work.

Thank you.

You can use SketchUp tools.

For example, draw a line of 23 feet (if feet are your units). Then draw another line of 49 units starting this new line of 49 at one end of the previous one and making sure that this new line is collinear with the first.

Another possibility is to draw a guide, then move a copy by 23 units and then a copy of this second one by 49 units. Finish by drawing a line from the first guide to the last guide making sure that you are drawing these lines perpendicular to the guides.

Another possibility is to draw a guide to help in aligning the edges. Then, use the first method to align the two edges on the guide.
