I’m looking for an experienced SketchUp user with strong residential architecture/remodeling experience to help me model and redesign an existing home.
I have the original 1975 architectural drawings, including floor plans, basement/foundation plans, elevations, sections, and dimensions, along with dozens of current photographs of the house. I can also provide additional measurements and photos as needed.
Phase 1 — Existing Conditions Model
The first objective is to build an accurate, well-organized SketchUp model of the house as it exists today.
Phase 2 — Live Collaborative Design
Once the existing-condition model is verified, I want to use it to explore a substantial residential renovation and possible additions.
The live collaboration aspect is particularly important to me. I previously worked with a designer where we would regularly meet by Zoom, she would share her screen and operate the model, and we would develop ideas together in real time.
I’m looking for someone comfortable doing the same — moving walls, testing additions, changing room layouts, working through stairs and rooflines, and exploring design options together while screen sharing.
There would also likely be independent work between sessions.
I am not looking for a workflow where I simply send instructions, wait for revisions, and repeat. I’m specifically trying to find someone who enjoys an ongoing, interactive working relationship.
What I’m looking for:
- Very strong SketchUp proficiency
- Residential remodeling/addition experience
- Ability to model accurately from older architectural drawings and photographs
- Good understanding of floor plans, elevations, roof geometry, stairs, and residential construction
- Fluent/conversational English
- Reasonable overlap with U.S. Eastern Time
- Comfortable actively modifying the model during live screen-sharing sessions
My schedule is flexible but somewhat ad hoc. I anticipate approximately 2–5 sessions per week, generally 30–60 minutes each. I’m usually available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, with occasional evening or weekend availability.
This is a paid, ongoing hourly project.
The immediate goal is design and modeling rather than permit/construction documents, although those could become a later phase.
If interested, please send me a private message with:
- A few examples of residential SketchUp work
- Your experience with renovation/addition projects
- Your time zone and availability
- Your hourly rate
- Whether you are comfortable actively modifying the model during live screen-sharing sessions
I’m also open to doing a short paid working session with promising candidates so we can both see whether the collaboration is a good fit.
