Hello @bubbavox,

I had come to the same need. So, this is a feature that I integrated into [OpenCutList](https://forums.sketchup.com/t/opencutlist-a-crowdfunded-extension-beta-7-0-available/301089) extension.

 ![OpenCutList 7.0 Outliner](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/3X/5/f/5f801a93a91dd58a3a31479a9c2892b203bba080.jpeg)

I confirm that it’s useful to have the materials displayed in the structure tree.
Even if, as @curic4su says, the faces are still missing in this tree.

It’s not so easy to replicate all the outliner’s features. But you can already try what I did in [the beta version of OpenCutList 7](https://forums.sketchup.com/t/opencutlist-a-crowdfunded-extension-beta-7-0-available/301089/33).
