Did I miss something, or is this a new Styles Modeling Settings box in SU 2026 (it wasn’t there in SU 2025)? Not in the release notes, it doesn’t appear to do anything, and the AI assistant was also stumped. Is this an easter egg for greater section fill control in an upcoming release!?
It has so far been very poorly explained.
Here’s my take on it…
Let’s say you have several scenes using the same style, but you want different section-cut fill colors to show up in some of the scenes. You need to duplicate the style with only a different section-cut fill color and assign that to the scenes in question… You now need to ‘manage’ two or more similar styles across your scenes.
This new ‘override’ method removes the section-cut fill color from the style and gives it to the scene. That way the same style can be used across several scenes, but each scene can then display a different ‘overridden’ color. It moves the color from the style to the scene - which is still a management issue ??
Perhaps @colin can enlighten us ?
I haven’t been able to find anywhere that this is documented, though if I ask Gemini it seems to know all about it.
I will check if someone does know where it is mentioned.
pretty sure it’s just something that shouldn’t be there in 26.2 and that nobody saw in the labs. ![]()
We have to pretend we don’t know anything about it… ![]()
it reminds me of the PBR icon that was present in sketchup a version prior to release.
I found it by accident. never got an explanation as to what it was ![]()
My dad drank that. I remember the first sip I had of it, I was maybe 10, we were lifting our garage and rolling it back 30’ to set it on a new foundation. Horrible stuff. But good memories. But it is not beer - but it I had to choose I would drink it over having to use the new materials icons.
The mystery continues…
