Hi everyone,

We’re the small team behind MUZWalls, and we figured it was about time we said hello here instead of just reading along.

We work on a SketchUp extension for walls and concrete structures. It’s still growing, and we’re figuring plenty out as we go, so more than anything, we’d like to get to know the people who actually model this kind of thing day to day.

We’re not here to sell anyone anything. We’d just love to hear how you work: what you find fiddly or frustrating in SketchUp, what you wish existed, how you’d approach it. And if you ever end up trying what we’ve made, your honest thoughts, the critical ones especially, would mean a lot.

Really glad to be here, and looking forward to the conversation. Ask us anything.

It’s perfectly fine to start a topic for your extension that you list in Extension Warenhause (or elsewhere). You can also just add a link to it in your post above.

Welcome to the forum!

Well, I think you really just want to sell it, don’t you?! 😉

There’s nothing wrong with that too! We like it! 😇

What we don’t like is when people post the same or similar “advertising” content in multiple random topics…

Ha, fair catch 😄 you’re right, and I won’t pretend otherwise: we’re a startup, so of course we’d be happy if people liked it and buy it. That’d always lovely.

But that’s honestly not what we’re here for. What we’re actually after is the constructive stuff hearing how people work, where things get painful, what’s missing. That kind of dialog is worth far more to us right now than any sale, and it’s the part you can’t get anywhere else.

And no worries you won’t see us sprinkling the same post around the forum. That’s not our style either. 🙂

Thanks for the warm welcome and I’ll add the link here like you suggested.

I looked over your comparison of Medeek Wall and MUZWalls and also your pricing page:

> Monthly, annual, or one-time perpetual. Free 7-day trial, no card. Tens of dollars per seat — a fraction of Revit or Medeek. Every feature included.

Your comparison page is **mostly accurate** however you state that purchasing the Wall + Foundation + Floor will run you nearly $460.00. You are not comparing apples to apples here. The pricing you are using is for the “permanent” licenses.

A very good day to you, from Bonn, Germany.

Nathaniel, you were right about the number. We fixed it. The comparison now shows your $330 suite, not the à-la-carte total. When we get something wrong, we say so, and we fix it the same day. And we’re glad people are talking about price. They should be.

Now, the part that matters.

Ask an architect what they want from a wall tool. Nobody says “a licensing matrix.” They say: let me draw a wall. Cut an opening. Drop in the concrete. Pull a takeoff. And get back to designing.

So that’s what we made.

One plugin. One license. Every feature, inside it with many updates to come. One price. Nothing to add up. No math. No chart to decode before you’re allowed to buy. You install MUZWalls, and the whole workflow is simply _there_.

And we care, deeply, about how it feels. Every click. Every drag. Every wall you pull. It should feel fast, smooth, effortless and most importantly accurate. Like the tool is getting out of your way. To us, the experience isn’t the finish. It’s the whole point. It’s the thing you can’t put on a spec sheet. And it’s the thing you feel in the first five minutes.

Anyone can hand you a menu and let you assemble it yourself. That’s easy. The hard part, the part almost nobody does, is putting everything a wall workflow needs into one license, so you never have to stop and wonder what to buy. We did that work. So you don’t have to.

We’re new. And we’re absolutely clear about who we’re for. If you draw walls in SketchUp, and you want your tools to disappear and let you work, that’s us.

Seven days. Free. No card. No catalog.

Come see how it feels.

Hi,
Congratulations on creating an extension that offers the possibility of using that system and materials!

I saw some of the tutorials and in the one about “Automatic Wall Cutting”, at minute 0:37, the wall you build and intersects an existing one, automatically breaks in those areas. How do you set this up?

[![](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/4X/6/e/b/6ebae99da0767e675a34062c7c179a210d6a911f.jpeg "SketchUp Wall Plugin 2026 | MUZWalls Fast Parametric Wall Modeling + Automatic Wall Cutting") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN2hdJ3Bmac&t=37)

Does the extension offer the possibility of connecting the layers that make up the wall based on priority (similar to Revit)? And maybe even setting for viewing details: coarse, medium, fine?

[![](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/4X/c/f/7/cf71f1d452a6f50f929ad70bc35b0e5fa076bb73.jpeg "Wall Layer Priority in Revit 2026 Tutorial") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6Oe5fprl3A)

The questions are just to learn about what extensions are possible and exist for SketchUp.
Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to watch our tutorials, we really appreciate it!

Regarding the Automatic Wall Cutting at 0:37, there isn’t any special setup required. MUZWalls automatically detects when a newly created wall intersects an existing MUZWalls wall. The first wall is treated as the reference (cutter) wall, while the second wall that passes through it is automatically trimmed to create a clean connection. This priority is based on the wall creation order, so it’s something users should keep in mind when modeling.

As for wall layer priorities, MUZWalls uses fully parametric wall assemblies, where the external and internal layers are defined separately. The way these layers connect depends on the wall type and its assembly. At wall intersections and corners, MUZWalls automatically handles wall joins based on the wall configuration.

I’ve also attached a few images showing how corner wall joins work. They should help illustrate the logic behind the current implementation. For example, an internal plaster layer should not be joined directly to an external brick layer. MUZWalls already respects this principle when creating corner joins, keeping the wall assembly consistent.

The kind of advanced layer-priority behavior you’re referring to similar to Revit is something we’re actively working toward. It’s part of our development roadmap, and our goal is to make wall connections much smarter over time, with more intelligent layer interactions and wall join behavior that further enhances the BIM workflow.

We’ll also be uploading more Wall Features tutorial videos to our YouTube channel soon, where these workflows and features will be demonstrated in much greater detail.

I work on a Mac mini M4 pro and I am certainly not an expert in SketchUp but I have been working with it somewhat for many years. I’m doing my first large set of construction drawings using Layout SketchUp Pro 2026 for a custom residence. Since you’re asking ….

Once I’ve sent my model to Layout, and I’m setting up the viewports for wall sections, I would like to be able to type in which materials are to be used in that wall and have those drawn while in Layout. (The individual pieces and specifics of that wall almost never need to be modeled in SketchUp). For instance, if I have a wall section, I’d like to have it delineated with symbols and pochee, showing the drywall, the insulation, the sheathing, and the siding. Of course I would want it to do a nice rendering that is clear and to scale (in symbol form for black-and-white construction drawings). The line widths would also need to be appropriate for the material shown .
Just saying 🙂

D.Marie, love this, thank you. You’re describing exactly the kind of thing MUZWalls is for: define a wall’s layers + materials once, section it, and get a to-scale assembly in Layout. The next step you’re pointing at, real material symbols (insulation hatch, etc.) with per-material line weights, drawn automatically, is a great feature idea. Fully inside Layout it’s tricky (limited API), but producing that hatched, correctly-weighted section detail on the SketchUp side to drop into Layout is very doable. I’m putting it on the list and would love to keep you posted. 🙏

So here’s what we’re putting on the table, starting today.

**A direct chat on [muzwalls.com](http://muzwalls.com).** It runs on Telegram and goes straight to the people who actually write the plugin. Not a ticket in a queue. Not “support.” Us. When something breaks, we take care of it as fast as we can.

**Free onboarding for anyone new.** One of us, one on one, setting MUZWalls up around the way you actually model. No charge, no card. Just our time, because we’d rather you start strong.

Support isn’t a department here. It’s part of the tool.

A very good day to you, from Bonn, Germany.

MUZWalls MCP Beta Version

v3.4.2

## Ask an AI to draw it: MUZWalls now works with Claude and other assistants

MUZWalls can hand its whole toolset to an AI assistant working inside the model you already have open. Describe a wall, a window, a stair or a roof in plain language and it gets drawn — then ask for the quantities, a measurement, or a screenshot. It reads and edits your live model, not a copy.

- Describe what you want in plain language and watch it appear in your open SketchUp model
- Works with Claude Desktop, Cursor and any other MCP-aware assistant
- Walls, openings, profiles, slabs, foundations, columns, beams, stairs and roofs are all covered
- Ask for quantity takeoffs, measurements and model checks without touching a dialog
- The assistant can aim the camera and take screenshots, so it can show you what it built
- Everything stays on your own machine nothing is sent to another computer
- Reading your model is free on any plan; drawing and editing needs a licence

## Tell it what you want

Open the model you are working in, turn the assistant on, and describe the building. _“Draw me a 5 metre wall, 110 thick, 2.7 high.”_ _“Put a 1200 wide window in the middle of it, sill at 900.”_ _“Now a curved cavity wall bulging 1.5 metres out from a 6 metre chord 100 outer, 50 cavity, 100 inner.” or ask your agent to draw you base on a Photo or a model on internet._ The walls appear in the model in front of you, drawn by the same code the toolbar uses, with the same settings, materials and tags you would have got by hand.

If you have a CAD plan give it to your AI Assistant and ask to model it in Sketchup using Muzwalls MCP.

This is the part worth being precise about: the assistant works **inside the model you already have open**. It can see what is there, change it, and build on it. It is not generating a separate file for you to import and reconcile later. Ask it to widen a wall you drew last week and it will find that wall and widen it.

## It covers the whole plugin, not a corner of it

Everything MUZWalls draws is available: single and double walls, straight and curved; doors, windows, louvers and the other opening shapes; sills and cappings; slabs, foundations, columns and beams; stairs; roofs and the skylights and chimneys that sit on them. Wall types, tags and materials can be created and applied. So can quantity takeoffs — ask for the concrete volumes or the reinforcement weights and you get the same numbers the reports produce.

It can also check its own work. Ask it to measure a wall, confirm an opening really sits inside the wall it belongs to, or sweep the model for elements that have quietly lost their host. And it can point the camera and take a screenshot, so when it says it has built something it can show you.

## Getting it running

The assistant panel is the **AI** button on the MUZWalls toolbar, marked with a small _BETA_. Click **Turn on** , then **Copy settings** that puts the exact configuration on your clipboard and names the file your AI app expects it in. There is a one-time install of a small connector on your machine; the panel walks you through it.

Test it and give us a feedback 🙂

## Your model stays yours

The connection never leaves your computer. The plugin listens only on your own machine, the connector talks only to that, and no part of your model is sent anywhere. Nothing happens without a request from the assistant you have connected, and you can turn it off from the same panel at any time.

Reading is free on every plan, including the free one listing what is in the model, measuring it, checking it, running takeoffs. Drawing and editing need an active licence, the same as the toolbar does.

This is a beta. It is complete enough to design with, and the parts that are still rough are the ones we most want to hear about.

## Also in this release

Minor bugfixes.

## How to update

In SketchUp, open **Extensions → Extension Manager** , uninstall the previous MUZWalls, and install the new `.rbz` from the [download page](https://muzwalls.com/download). Your existing license activation carries over.

# **MUZWalls 4.0.0 is live and it is no longer just a wall plugin**

When MUZWalls launched, we made one promise: this would never be “one more wall tool.”

MUZWalls is built by a dedicated, full-time team, on a roadmap, in deliberate steps and shaped by what you run into on real projects. That promise has not changed.

Yesterday, version 4.0.0 went live. It is the biggest step we have taken so far.

Foundations. Timber floors. Timber framing. Columns. Beams. Stairs. Railings. Roofs. All in one place, all inside SketchUp.

MUZWalls has grown from a wall plugin into a tool for modelling the building.

Here is what changes for you.

* * *

## **1. Timber-frame walls are now real construction**

[![WhatsApp Image 2026-09-04 at 2.25.50 PM.jpeg](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/4X/9/6/0/960352852d377a95ac6e03a79633249ff4af22fd.jpeg)](https://community.sketchucation.com/assets/uploads/files/1788550344772-whatsapp-image-2026-09-04-at-2.25.50-pm.jpeg)

**You draw the wall. The framing comes with it.**

- Studs at your spacing
- Bottom plate and double top plate
- Headers with king and jack studs over every opening
- Blocking between bays
- Sheathing, insulation, and cladding inside and out

Presets for US/IRC, Canadian and Australian practice give you a sensible start. Every value stays editable. Metric and imperial both work.

Edit the wall later, and the framing stays correct.

## **2. Double walls with a timber leaf**

[![WhatsApp Image 2026-09-04 at 2.25.58 PM.jpeg](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/4X/a/8/0/a8030b349ae095e12e8e82b391e25af37e7239f5.jpeg)](https://community.sketchucation.com/assets/uploads/files/1788550344799-whatsapp-image-2026-09-04-at-2.25.58-pm.jpeg)

This is how most buildings are actually built:

- a timber-framed inner leaf behind a brick outer skin
- a service wall framed against structural masonry
- a fully timber twin-stud wall

A double wall can now be framed on both leaves, or pair a timber leaf with masonry, blockwork or concrete. Cavity, heights and finishes work exactly as on any other MUZWalls double wall. Both leaves are modelled as real construction — and both are reported separately in the takeoff.

## **3. Timber floors**

[![WhatsApp Image 2026-09-04 at 2.26.17 PM.jpeg](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/4X/5/6/6/566a7ee69661cecb51e068c29599279b0b03f82b.jpeg)](https://community.sketchucation.com/assets/uploads/files/1788550344830-whatsapp-image-2026-09-04-at-2.26.17-pm.jpeg)

A new floor tool covers solid sawn joists, I-joists, LVL and floor trusses. Set joist spacing, rim and band joists, blocking rows and sheathing. Cut openings for stairs and service voids. Regional presets included.

## **4. Railings**

[![WhatsApp Image 2026-09-04 at 2.26.39 PM.jpeg](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/4X/0/a/3/0a35e237110dea9eafad19efadf465a3c8bfdd47.jpeg)](https://community.sketchucation.com/assets/uploads/files/1788550344862-whatsapp-image-2026-09-04-at-2.26.39-pm.jpeg)

Draw a railing along any path. Toggle posts and infill panels independently. Choose square, rectangular or round posts.

## **5. Roofs over real footprints**

[![WhatsApp Image 2026-09-04 at 2.26.58 PM.jpeg](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/4X/1/9/e/19e0e7f06193c7f38d427db5bf1edddb260a7852.jpeg)](https://community.sketchucation.com/assets/uploads/files/1788550344891-whatsapp-image-2026-09-04-at-2.26.58-pm.jpeg)

Gable and hip roofs now frame correctly over L-shapes, T-shapes and stepped plans not just rectangles. Rafters, ridges, hips and valleys are resolved for you. Pick a truss or cut-rafter roof, and set your own member sizes and spacing.

## **6. Walls keep joining**

Walls now auto-join to elements drawn after them. Keep building forward instead of going back to fix connections.

## **7. Quantities: 26 sheets → 40**

[![WhatsApp Image 2026-09-04 at 2.27.12 PM.jpeg](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/4X/e/e/4/ee4f5e48f48ae847a5d3c5c4300b3db93015c6bd.jpeg)](https://community.sketchucation.com/assets/uploads/files/1788550344918-whatsapp-image-2026-09-04-at-2.27.12-pm.jpeg)

The takeoff now covers frame walls, floors and railings. Timber and steel calculations sit on their own sheets, kept separate from concrete.

## **8. Three new languages**

[![WhatsApp Image 2026-09-04 at 2.27.19 PM.jpeg](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/4X/5/2/9/529d5e37882aec5f867cb63c423eb71d5bd55b58.jpeg)](https://community.sketchucation.com/assets/uploads/files/1788550344947-whatsapp-image-2026-09-04-at-2.27.19-pm.jpeg)

French, Spanish and Portuguese, alongside English and German.

Parametric single and cavity walls with auto-mitred chains. Arc walls as real geometry. Self-healing openings. Reinforced foundations strip, pad, combined and raft. Reinforced columns and beams. Concrete slabs. Stairs. Timber-framed walls and floors. Railings. Timber roofs. PDF plan import with calibration. One-click quantity export.

All inside SketchUp. All on your own machine.

## **An honest note**

The timber framing, floor, railing and roof tools are first-generation. They are solid enough to model and quantify real buildings today but they are the starting point of these systems, not the finished form.

Every tool in MUZWalls started this way. Walls, openings, foundations, the takeoff: each began as a first release and was refined over many versions with input from people using them on live projects.

That work does not stop. The 4.0.0 tools will keep being deepened, corrected and extended, release after release as will everything already in the plugin.

## **We want your feedback**

The fastest way this gets better is you putting it against real drawings. If you model timber framing, floors or railings in SketchUp, tell us:

- What does your framing standard need that the presets do not cover?
- Where do the floor and railing tools fall short on your typical details?
- What in the 40-sheet takeoff does not match how you price work?
- What breaks?

Reply here or send it to us directly. It goes straight to the developers and every report from this forum in the past year has ended up in a release.

You draw it. MUZWalls builds it, and counts it.

Thanks for reading.

Hi everyone,

Our plugin, now supports metal stud framing. You can model light-gauge steel (cold-formed steel) walls directly in SketchUp, from non-load-bearing drywall partitions to load-bearing steel stud walls. Studs, tracks, openings and head-of-wall details are all generated parametrically.

Metric and imperial framing, based on industry standards
MUZWalls follows published industry standards (DIN, EN, AISI and ASTM), not rules of thumb.

Metric: CW studs and UW tracks, the profile system widely used for drywall partitions in Europe. Studs sit inside the tracks with a controlled clearance.
Imperial: standard SSMA member designations such as 600S162-54, for both non-structural and structural members.
Material: galvanized sheet steel.

Stud spacing based on gypsum board width
In drywall construction, every board edge has to land on a stud. For that reason, MUZWalls takes stud spacing from the board width:

1250 mm boards: 625 / 416.7 / 312.5 mm
1200 mm boards: 600 / 400 / 300 mm
48" boards: 24" / 16" / 12" o.c.

You can still use any custom spacing. MUZWalls warns you if it doesn’t match the board module, but it never blocks you.

Tracks instead of plates: one top track and one bottom track, with the studs seated inside.
Door and window openings: partitions get full-height jambs (UA profiles for doors in metric, boxed studs in imperial). Headers and sills are formed from the wall track, with bent tabs fixed to the jambs. Load-bearing walls get king studs, jack studs and box-beam headers.
Deflection head track: four head-of-wall conditions (fixed, deep leg, slotted and double track) for slip connections at the ceiling.
Acoustic partitions: a staggered stud layout that fully separates the two faces of the wall.
Corners: one stud per wall, finished with corner bead, with no wood-style three-stud corner.

The takeoff report includes a calculated weight for every stud and track, based on the profile geometry and steel thickness. It’s accurate enough for estimating. For purchase orders, please use the manufacturer’s data.

Your feedback is very welcome, and I’m happy to answer any questions.

Hey everyone,

Quick question: have you had a chance to try our MCP yet? It’s the connection that lets an AI assistant work inside SketchUp using MUZWalls tools.

Here’s why I’m asking. I was watching Justin’s latest video on TheSketchUpEssentials (worth a watch!) 👉 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-ECbD14g\_8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-ECbD14g_8)

And it got me thinking about the questions that always come next on a real job. How thick is that wall, and what’s inside it? What carries the load over the window? How much plasterboard do we order?

A picture can’t answer that. A box made of faces can’t either.

MUZWalls, on the other hand, gives the AI real construction tools. When the assistant builds a cavity wall, you get a real brick outer skin, a cavity and a timber inner leaf, each with a real thickness and material. When it frames a floor, you get joists at your spacing, rim joists, blocking, and a stair opening with trimmers and headers. And all of it lands in a takeoff you can actually price.

**The fun part:** because the construction knowledge lives in our tools, you don’t need the most expensive AI model.

And you stay in charge the whole time:
✅ Every change is a normal SketchUp undo step
✅ Every command shows up in the activity log
✅ Every wall has real parameters you can open and edit by hand

The AI Assistant is in beta and free to try for measuring and inspecting. If you want to see it build, the setup takes a few minutes 🙂

It’s great that Muzzwalls recognizes walls, roofs and floors. That would give us a very good workflow in combination with Astra6: create the existing building using Astra, and we, as architectural designers, can start iterating the existing model!

..In this workflow, we do not have to use Archicad anymore!

I was playing with the roof tool recently, any chance the plugin could recognise the units used (the model is set to) and use that automatically for input?

Thanks svl. Christmas came a little early for MUZWalls users this year.

AI is where we are putting our effort: MUZWalls is the SketchUp plugin built to be driven by an AI assistant natively, and every release since 4.2 has widened what the assistant can reach.

And some **GOOD NEWS** for your workflow: since **4.3** which we released **TODAY,** the model goes straight into **LayOut** , with labels, schedules, levels and rooms carried by the elements themselves. Existing building from Astra or Fable, iterate in MUZWalls, document in **LayOut**.
