I’m using a Macbook Pro (running Yosemite) and this occurs with versions 8-2015 of SU. If after I draw a dimension in Layout and decide to move the dimension, the dimension changes to “paper-space” and doesn’t stay “model-space”. Is this unique to the Mac version or what. Thanks!

I would expect that behavior on both platforms. Moving the entire dimension will break any connections, resulting in a paper-space length value. If your goal is just to move the dimension line (the line that has the length text on it), you can do that by first double-clicking on the dimension to enter a special editing mode.
