I’m getting many flat-out crashes using Move-Pivot-Straighten, no bug splats, just no more Sketchup.

Pivot and straighten are not standard SketchUp terms, so I’m not clear about what you are doing or how you are trying to do it. Please explain more fully. If you are using an extension please state which.
Most often a crash without BugSplat is due to a graphics driver issue or serious error that causes the app to abort.
Ah, I should have mentioned that this is Fredo6’s extension.
You should post on the appropriate topic in the sketchUcation forum. Fredo6 maintains his extensions there.
