Modelling bent metalwork frame. Keeping as a solid object

Hello. I am modelling some steelwork frames that need to look as if they are bent with age. I have tried a few methods but rapidly run into solid object issues. The attached files show a before and after. Can anyone suggest a crafty work flow? Thank you.

You could start by making a group or component of the window frame and then use Solid Inspector 2 to identify the problems.

Note that in this case the bit that’s shown deselected isn’t included in the object I made because it doesn’t intersected with the rest of the geometry.

I might start with a 2D frame–just the outside of the windo frame and distort it. Then I’d use Joint Push/Pull to extrude the surface to 3D. That would more likely prevent the holes and internal faces you currently have.

You can also just use the Move tool, but prepare the appropriate geometry for what you want to achieve. Add lines at each intersection.

Thank you mihai.s That looks like a good solution for my intended use. I was doing that with the 2d frame but didn’t think of using it in the 3d.

Thanks DaveR. I will give that a go.
