Is there a way to eliminate these out 2 scaling grips?
The only scale feature I usually need is pulling the center grip (for a unform stretch), and outer 2 are often in the way, especially for walls and small parts.
Separately, is there another method plugin for this sort of component/ group stretching?
Lastly, is there a plug in smart enough to allow parametric scaling of models that I import (where I could type in the final width, etc, and it would scale to those specs)?
To turn a component with lots of parts (like a cabinet), does that require entering in thicknesses of its individual parts, or can I just define its Length Width and Height? (Have never gotten too far with creating dynamic components.)
If you’ve got a component with a lot of subcomponents or groups, Scale wouldn’t be the appropriate way to change its dimensions because it’ll also scale the subcomponents/groups. For example if you use Scale to change the width of the cabinet you’ll change the thickness of the case sides and the widths of verticals like face frame and door stiles.
If you create a Dynamic Component of the cabinet you can change the width of the cabinet by scaling the horizontals and moving the verticals. That will avoid unwanted resizing.
Without resorting to DC’s on something like that, you can use an extension for stretching like Tak2hata’s Stretch by Area, Curic Stretch or Fredo Scale.
