This grid thing should be native in Sketchup! Nice work! ![]()
I agree. I’m liking this grid (with the snapping) so much I think I’ll add it to a bunch of my tools as an option.
Honestly, I can’t try it because I’m not an architect to use your plugins, but based on the animation, it’s a very good thing you created. ![]()
That is a very slick interface creation! It would be really useful if you had a hot key to hold down that would reverse the toggle setting — i.e. WHILE holding down a key, it would release the constraint if the default were set to “on” or invoke the constrain if the default were set to “off.”
The hot key is the “End” key currently. I can toggle the snapping on and off. There may be some additional fine tuning needed. Currently if you click on the top right corner of the draw menu (on the icon) it will toggle between FACE and POLYLINE mode. However it might be more useful it if did this: FACE → POLYLINE -.> POLYLINE (with grid snapping).
Basically there are two hot keys currently. The up arrow toggles between the two draw modes (FACE and POLYLINE) and the End key toggles the grid snapping on and off.
Adding the Polyline (with grid) would be a good options. Option keys rotating through the 3 options would definitely be a great addition.

I love this dynamic grid concept
!
Initially I setup a grid snapping feature but the grid was not shown. I only showed the cross hairs once the cursor got within a certain distance (threshold) from the grid point. The problem with this initial concept was that trying to find those grid points was like wandering in a dark room trying to find the light switch, hence the dynamic or floating grid was born. Sometimes we have happy accidents. I didn’t really plan this one, I guess it just kind of evolved.
Version 4.7.1 - 07.29.2026
- Enabled the following methods within the Medeek Wall API: wall_set_attributes, wall_win_set_attributes, wall_door_set_attributes, wall_garage_set_attributes, wall_column_set_attributes.
- Fixed a custom material bug in the auto corner configuration algorithm.
That bug was a very obscure bug. I’ve never actually noticed it until today when integrating the Wall plugin with the new Garage Builder. It has probably been there since 2021 or 2022 maybe longer.
Version 4.7.1b - 07.29.2026
- Fixed a bug with multi-trimmer stud windows.
!!! WARNING !!!
This is a critical bug fix. The bug was most likely introduced with Version 4.6.8 and has persisted through all versions until this version (4.7.1b). Please update your extension as your earliest convenience.
Would it possible edit a regular rectangular wall as a custom wall? Something like "convert to custom, and then be able to edit it’s shape?
I only have the one option currently. No one until now has asked for a low overhead option. Give met he specs on the track and I can probably add it in as an option.
For now I guess I can probably edit the track by pulling it down, and then marking it CUSTOM? One possibility is to have a vertical offset for the horizontal track and curve - default of zero, but dropped by a specified amount if needed. That would work similarly to other elements.
Custom walls work well.
The addition of custom walls is a great feature. Adding the option to join them to standard/preset and custom wall’s would make this feature very useful, especially when working with 2D elevations.
This will also reduce the need for a number of subtraction elements required. (depending on your workflow)
OK, I’m stumped. I can’t get plan symbols for doors to show up at all. I downloaded an example file from 3D Warehouse that has one, but if the wall regens the swing goes away. I swear I’ve looked through every setting and can’t figure it out.
Yeah, there it is. I thought I poured over that list, but didn’t test the one that mattered - Callouts in 3D mode. I think my brain was hunting for either something about Doors and/or 2D. Even when making plans with orthographic views, that’s still 3D Mode.
