Tutorial 74 - Insulated Headers (6:28 min.)

If you have installed a new version of SketchUp and wish to migrate the Medeek extensions to the new installation of SketchUp, you can either use the migration tool provided by SketchUp (SU 2025 or later) or simply install the extensions within the new version of SketchUp using the Extension Manager. Using either method will not automatically transfer your custom presets and materials from one installation to the next. In order to transfer your custom settings please visit the detailed upgrade instructions here.

The snippet above shows how I am using the wall layers to create a nominal 6” SIP wall panel.

With the wall sheathing turned off, and using a custom insulation that looks like EPS that is 8’ tall the snippet above is created.

I need to figure out how to make the custom insulation look like is of varying lengths. The length of the EPS will vary by the EPS block molder supplying EPS to the SIP manufacturer. I think it’s a matter of playing with the horizontal and vertical scales on the texture but :man_shrugging::man_shrugging:

Tutorial 77 - Mitek vs. Simpson (11:00 min.)

A bit of a long standing issue with the automatic blocking/noggin for walls:

Notice how the blocking is not present over the windows and doors. The current algorithm just avoids the door and windows so as not to put the blocking through them but it is not smart enough to insert the blocking above or below. I guess I need to revisit the algorithm and see if I can make it more robust.
