Medeek Wall

I’m working on it but the updates are so new it may take a few more weeks before I identify and address any and all bugs. I’m also still thinking about the “custom” wall type and how best to address that.

Version 3.3.7b - 11.27.203

  • Fixed a critical bug introduced with Version 3.3.6.

!!! CRITICAL BUG FIX !!!
This is a critical bug fix for all users, please download the latest version of the plugin (3.3.7b).

Version 3.3.8 - 12.02.2023

  • Updated the face selection algorithm of the draw wall perimeter tool.

This addresses the issue of selecting faces that are embedded or nested within groups. You can now select faces that are in the root of the model or nested within other groups.

So ever since Matt Donley’s video about a month ago I’ve been giving some thought to what I call “complex walls”. These are walls that don’t fit comfortably within the wall types currently available within the plugin. One can essentially model just about any complex wall with multiple basic walls as shown below:

At some point it would be nice to also generate such a wall given a face that defines that wall’s profile.

The issue with trying to achieve a complex wall with smaller basic walls is when openings are bisected by two walls at once, this doesn’t really work, it needs to be one wall.

The other issue potentially with complex walls is the framing algorithm and determining what to do at the transition points. I have some thoughts on this issue but I don’t know if my algorithm is robust enough yet.

Nathan, I’ve got a funny little issue. When I switch the wall materials to steel, everything looks great…except the blocking for intersecting walls gets put on the wrong side of the blue axis. If I switch to wood, it goes back to the correct orientation. The intersect blocking is in the correct placement in red and green, just generating the wrong direction in blue.

I’ve never noticed this bug before but I think I already know what it is, I’ll take a look at it.

P.S.
It’s the zero plane issue, I need some logic to fix this for steel framing.

P.P.S.
Tell me if the bug fix in Version 3.4.2 fixes the issue(s).

That worked a treat, thank you!

Okay now I’m having an issue where the gypsum isn’t getting tagged properly when I regen a wall, and I can’t turn it off. This file was made long before I started using the plugin, so I don’t know if there’s a conflict or not.

Nevermind. My intellectual prowess forgot to turn the layers back on after updating lol.

Let’s try to keep this thread for development and new feature requests. Please either post a new thread for debugging purposes or just email me direct.

What do you mean, window/door reset?

In the General tab of the Global Settings you are able to reset all of the global settings to their default values. However for some this is to global or not granular enough. I have added the Door and Window reset buttons so that one can reset just these settings without having to reset all of the settings. I provides a more granular control when needing to reset global parameters.

Version 3.4.5 - 01.28.2024

  • Added two additional column types for in-wall columns: Custom, Blank.
  • Three additional parameters added for custom in-wall columns.
  • Added a custom label option and annotation section for in-wall columns.
  • Updated the javascript logic within the License tab of the Global Settings.

Technically this update is a bit redundant because one can already configure custom in-wall columns within the global settings. However, this new option gives one the ability to insert any sort of column into the wall (non-wood) as well as a blank opening where one could then insert their own manually modeled column or structural support.

The custom label option applies to all column types, so it can override the auto labeling algorithm of the module.

This update per customer request.

P.S.
I’ve tested this new update fairly extensively however there was some major housecleaning within the column module. Major changes always make me a little nervous that I may have inadvertently broken something. Please email me direct if you notice anything not functioning as it should.
