I have SketchUp 2025. In the Default Tray under Materials, I now only seems to have a text list of the different materials, whereas before, there was a small icon with a visual representation of each material. How do I get this back?
Many thanks. Do you know how I keep the same settings every time I open SU. For example, every time I open it, I have to insert the Large Tool Set on the left hand side.
Most often when users report toolbars not remaining where they were placed on Windows, the reason has been incorrect installation of SketchUp. To correctly install SketchUp you must right click on the installer and select Run as administrator. This convinces Windows to grant SketchUp permissions to write the file that stores your toolbar placement.
At this point, close SketchUp and LayOut. Do a cold reboot of the machine and then find the installer. Right click on it and choose Run as administrator. Then choose the Repair option. After it completes you should be able to open SketchUp, set up the toolbars as desired. Save a model file and then close SketchUp. Open it again to see if the toolbars have remained as you set them. If not, there’s another, slightly more invasive step to try.
