Materials default tray

Good morning,

Is there search tool in the “materials” category, under the ‘In Model’ category to find a color or texture? If there are a lot of materials in the model, many which were created outside of the library or imported–adding to numerous materials, it takes a lot of time to find the material by scrolling down. “In model” is there sequence set up to find a material. thanks

There isn’t a search feature in the Materials panel. If you switch to List View you can look for them by name.

thanks, sorry for the slow response. I’ll try the list view. The only reason my situation’s different is because of creating a mock city with a lot of buildings, streets, etc that utilizes materials outside of sketchup and the library becomes overwelming, thanks I’ll try the list view

It doesn’t matter whether the materials are ones you added for this model or if they came from existing collections in SketchUp.

It might be worth running CleanUp3 to merge materials. That may get rid of duplicates if they exist and shorten the list.

Yes, that was my other concern. Either some materials my be unecessarily repeated or unused materials for objects that were deleted. I do have an extension called “Cleanup” I think from Tomtom, which I uploaded a snapshot of one of the cleanup ext

You should go to Window>Model Info>Statistics and click Purge Unused there.

Then in CleanUp tick the box for Merge Identical Materials.

If you still have some that seem like they should be identical after that, settle on one of them and use it to replace the other(s). Then Purge again.
