Managing licenses

I always wait forever to upgrade to the next SU version because

I’ve hung on and been using 2023 Pro because I didn’t want to go through the PITA of upgrading to 2024. Well, 2023 starts hanging and needing to be force quit (MacOS). So, I download and install 2024. Ya, it says I have 0 of 1 seat available. I open 2023 to sign out. I am signed out.

Tick tock tick tock… I have work I need to get done and I don’t have a working licensed active version of SU. Surely there is a way to make upgrading seamless…

Anyone know what it is that I need to do here?

Thanks

Managed to deauthorize everything in “My Products”. You’d think that would be a single click operation. Rather than one for every product.

I open a new file. Does 2024 know the template I have set as my default in 2023? Of course not, why would it do that? Do my plugins load? Get real, of course not.

I go to Basecamp this year and am dazzled by all the AI integration Trimble is planning. But, would it be too much to ask to bring all of these seemingly simple processes into the 21st Century?

I’ll see how much productive time I lose times all those that try to use this in a professional atmosphere. I’m sure that’s a huge number of wasted hours worldwide.

I went from 2022 to 2024 six or eight months ago, and it’s always a drag to make the move. The biggest head scratcher was when 2024 first launched and decided it couldn’t be authorized, it apparently remembered that fact in a little file saved locally in application support, and even after I deauthorized all on line, it still wouldn’t authorize until I deleted that file forcing it to actually check again on line and then work. At least that’s my understanding of what happened.
