Im having trouble making grass and flower textures for my outdoor classroom project. I tried using the extension called “3DArcStudio 3D Tree Maker” to make grass on hills easier, but it doesnt work due to it being unsigned, even though my loading policy is on unrestricted. What are ways I can make my own grass/flowers, or are there other extensions I havent tried yet that can help me?
That doesn’t have anything to do with an extension working or not.
Are you planing to make renders of your project? Adding 3D trees and detailed flowers will increase the size of your file quite fast.
uhhh…
it works. at least on my mac, in sketchup 26.
I have this tiny plugin installed (not even that… just a snippet) by Dan, I wonder if it makes it work. it was some kind of fix for older plugins not compatible with the modern version of ruby. like the tree plugin.
No when an extension is unsigned, if the Extension Load Policy is Restricted (Identified Extensions Only), such extension will not load. The workaround is to change the Load Policy to Unrestricted.
Extension Manger > Gear (icon upper right)
Could you pls share what plugin/ snippet that is, to possibly help older plugins work? I would love to try the 3D tree maker! I am playing with it on Sketchup 2025 but it is inconsistent (and maybe it is because I am still learning the tool!). TIA
I have. it’s in the link above. the rbz thing. but I can’t say if it will solve it or if it’s something else.
do you get any error message on launch or when you try to use it ?
Great, I missed that… Thanks! I will try it. I do not currently get an error message when I try to use 3D Tree, it just does not appear to work as intended. Which is to be expected as it is not compatible with my version of SU. I am also not very experienced with extensions… Thanks for your help.
It is in unrestricted.
I am not trying to render it, and thank you for the clarification about the unsigned part as I was confused. Im looking into my SketchUp 2026 right now to look for answers.
Thank you, I’ll do it as soon as possible.
It worked, thank you.
Sorry if I sounded confusing, I am new to sketch up.
Tis’ Okay. Glad you got it working.
