Making a column with one curved edge, trying to make the intersection lines disappear

Hi there - I’m trying to solve what I think is a simple project. I’m working on the design of a kitchen island for a friend. The island will have two 12”x12” columns at the front, and the marble 3x5 top will have two 7”radius edges to mirror the existing countertops.

I want the columns to have one rounded over edge. I’m creating the columns by drawing a 12x12 square, then another 4x4 attached to the corner where I want to roundover to be. Then a 2-point arc to make the roundover. Delete the original lines of the 4x4, the use Push/Pull to extrude the column to a 36” height. So far so good, but when extruded there are two vertical lines. where the pie and the 12x12 square intersected originally. I’d like to make this lines disappear. Haven’t had any luck. To be honest, I tried looking a bit in the forums but didn’t come across anything; I’m not much for YouTube videos as I’t’s Friday night, I’m sitting on the couch next to my wife who is watching a movie, and I’m in general just more comfortable reading at my own pace than trying to do this with earbuds and heavy use of the rewind button….

What am I missing? Sorry, the file is a mess, my I’m making different models to show her different ideas. I made a column and left in unpainted to show what I’m trying to do. It’s Friday and I’m just beat.

Without looking at your model as it is Saturday here and im in the pub after a 3 hour drive, it sounds like you could have welded the edges before pushpull, or having done it you can use the eraser tool with ctrl to soften the hard lines and they will disappear but still be there.

spot on.

eraser + ctrl will solve your problem and soften the lines.

edit : proof in the pudding :

On top of that, it is shown on screen when the eraser tool is selected.
Look at the bottom of your screen, just under your modelling space. That’s where SketchUp tell’s you what modifiers there are for the selected tool..

Nab has given you the pudding, and here is the other option I mentioned, welding the edges before pushpull.

By the way, I went to the effort of unselecting the face, it wouldn’t have made a difference if I had welded with it selected as it would only deal with the edges selected. The point was to weld the two straight and one arc together. If you selected the whole thing and welded it you would have had soft corners all round which isn’t always appropriate.
