With the wings set up as Dynamic Component that can be warped like the original wings would.
For me, the st. Peter’s church, Klippan, Sweden, by Sigurd Lewerenz is perhaps the most moving church in the world. The architect was over 80 when he designed it:
Thank you! Interesting site.
The world’s largest steam locomotive o all times:
I’ve seen two of them but both were static displays. The one that UP has restored and runs came through not too far from here a few years ago. Of course I was out in Maine at the time and didn’t get to see it.
Bummer! If you see it, say hi from me. My dad had two but they were also mostly on static display.
I will even try to give it a pat on its cow catcher if I can get close. I have an N-scale model of UP844. Not as bit as the Big Boys but it’s a big locomotive.
A live version, probably a smaller cousin, went past my home yesterday. The rail line comes down the hillside, crosses the river, runs along the river and sweeps uphill just behind me. So you can hear it coming for about 30 minutes. While the noise and smoke brings a smile to your face I’m very happy that they only pass occasionally and not on the normal timetable.
The last steam locomotive in daily use on the Finnish National Railways was a model TR-1 heavy freight train locomotive. Before its use was discontinued in about 1975 a couple of other first year architecture students and I shot a short film about it and had occasion to travel a short distance on board.
Compared to the Big Boy it was small, only 157 metric tons
I would LOVE to take a shot at Howl’s moving castle one day… though… maybe not on a 2 Hour livestream…
If you do go forward with this, could you try to incorporate some basic materials and textures this time?
Always a possibility… painting just seems so simple and I’m so tired after two hours of mowing I often let that slip ![]()
I think it would be fun to see it go through texturing/materials, even if at the expense of a somewhat simpler model. Just my opinion ![]()
I am all for it! I think that, honestly, I gauge my models by what I can model in 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. I can probably adjust my thinking to account for an extra 20 minutes of painting time!
Great! I think there are a lot of people that might benefit greatly from seeing how you might approach materials, especially if you go beyond just picking solid colors. Aligning, sizing, and placement of materials and graphics etc are all really big parts of SketchUp in my line of work (graphic design), at least.
You know… now that I think about it… maybe my hesitation stems from me real world dislike for painting… I would rather build, drywall, tape and mud and texture than have to paint a room.
Would this be EMD stretching their locos with the mindset of Boeing that produced the 737MAX? Would probably require a new AAR loading gauge “Plate” - Plate zZzZ perhaps?
Or is it what a mad scientist envisioned as the result of breeding an EMD loco with a cow? (aka “Electro Moooooooooooooooooootive”)
The version at the end part of the film (a platform with two legs) would be doable. I didn’t find an image.
