I’ve been using the free version of Sketchup for quite a few years now. I upgraded my PC to Windows 11 and it still worked just fine. I don’t need a Cadillac because I’m just using it for home use. My PC crashed about a week ago and I lost almost everything when the HD in the PC fried. I re-installed everything but wound up with Sketchup 17 free. I am not familiar with it at all, features I had before aren’t showing up, the screen layout it moved around, etc. Is there any way I can get Sketchup 15 back? I’m getting too old to learn new software every time the PC burps.

Unfortunately, there’s not a lot to be done for **SketchUp** **Make** users. It’s effectively abandonware and it’s no longer hosted on the **Trimble** website. It’s been replaced by the browser-based version, which doesn’t have the ability to use plug-ins as well as a few other creature comforts reserved for the **Go** and **Pro** editions. I don’t like learning new software either, but learning to use the web version over **Make** is nothing like if you were to start over with a completely different software package from another company.

There’s not that much difference between SketchUp 2015 and SketchUp 2017. The main difference is the addition of the Default Tray for the utility windows on the right side. That occurred in SketchUp 2016. The tools all work the same. I don’t know of a source for 2015 Make. Even the 2017 Make is not available from an authorized source now.

Best bet is to just get on with 2017 Make.

I was frustrated because of the changes I had to do when the PC crashed. Once I played with it I didn’t have any trouble using it. I even found an original Slic3r that I’m very familiar with and it accepts .obj files. I’m good once again.
Thanks for the advice and have a safe New Year’s Eve!
