Locking in plan view

I am designing in plan (top view in camera) and want to lock in that view so lines don’t go askew
Any solution?

Use care when modeling. You could start with a large rectangle on which you create the edges. Watch for On Face inferencing messages as you model. Generally SketchUp is designed such that modeling should be done with the Camera set to Perspective. I find it easier to keep edges on plane with the camera set to Perspective.

Another ption would be to do the drawing in LayOut and then export a DXF or DWG file to import into SketchUp when you are ready to go to 3D.

Layout way too primitive. I’ll try other suggestions

Hello
You can draw whatever you want in plan view and no matter how much your lines went askew, you can then use Thomthom architect tools and its flatten tool. It’ll bring everything to the same level while respecting what you were seeing in top view

Locking the view does not guarantee that the lines will be drawn in 2D.

You can use two extensions that can help you with that: 'TIG 2D Tools' for drawing in a 2D plan, and 'Fredo Please2D' for locking the view.

When in ‘Top View’ and in ‘Parallel Projection’ [ save this as a scene ! ] (and nothing else around with endpoints with z values ≠ 0, you will have a hard time lifting your pencil off the ground while drawing.
