LO 2025 - editing white text = invisible while typing

See video;
Colored background = image on layer below the text layer.
When editing the white text, while typing the text is invisible. Editing black text works as expected.

LO_white text invisible while editing

It’s the experimental graphics engine.

I can make it go away completely if I use Mac’s color matcher. I’m curious if you’ve seen a good solution for this. On Mac, I can cmd-opt-ctl-8 and invert colors, but if they’re close it inverts both.

It is a pain, but I’ve not seen a reasonable alternative. I think devs will laugh if I say to test background & text color before going into edit mode.

My simple workaround would be to have text nearby (off page if necessary on all my template pages) to sample so I can change color, edit, and change back.
If it’s not obvious, I’m hitting ‘b’ for the bucket shortcut to sample text. Twice.

We’ll think about this so more. Suggestions & examples welcome.

Thanks for the suggestion. Hoping it gets on the to-do list at SU hq

Bug filed, Mac-only. Windows does 2 different things (one for classic graphics and one for Experimental graphics) when I make “away” the same as the blue-gray background:

So if I change my background to text-box-edit colorin Windows, the Experimental engine is doing a 1-pixel outline so it’s still visible:

I think from the OP example, isn’t it just a case of stopping the text (whatever the colour) turning transparent. Surely it should just retain its WYSIWYG properties?

Yes - ideally you shouldn’t need to use any temporary ‘hacks’ when editing/writing text
