Linked SketchUp Models

When working on large projects, I like to have several models for the same project { based on Nick Sonder book}, working on a main building Model, then having the same model in a new file just for sections, another one just for lighting and RCP etc… I land up having 5-6 extra models.

The tedious job of this method is that when I make changes to the main model, I need to re-import the updated main model into the other models.. it would be great to have a feature where we can automatically link some Sketchup models, so when the main model is updated, the other linked models are also automatically updated, and there would be no need to re-import the main model into the secondary ones.

Not sure if anyone else works with more than one file for the same model/project?

you don’t need to reimport the model.

it’s already linked. just right click on it, and choose reload.

you could also check Eneroth Reference Manager, it does the same but with an interface

I use Xref manager from Tig, it’s the fee version of Eneroth’s plugin, it can also refer to dwg files.

Thanks, I’ll check out these plugins.

For the point above I see what you mean, but I’m trying to avoid needing to go into the second model file to “reload”.

Thanks I’ll give this a go!

you could also check that one, it’s free, it’s new.
