Lines showing through - Back Edges turned off

Hello,

Not sure if there is a quick fix for this. I have thin panels that are flat on one side with detailed connection geometry on the other side. The lines from the geometry show through, even though there are no back edges. They even show in Layout. Is there a way to get rid of this, at least in Layout?

Thank you for your help in advance!

That’s typical of the limitations of the graphics card. When the edges are very close togetheras in your model, the GPU will have difficulty with those edges on the back side. The solution would be to hide those edges on the back. In a case like that it might make more sense to use a texture to represent those panels than actuall geometry. Do you really have to have the panels modeled with that level of detail?

Hi DaveR! Thank you for your reply. Yeah. it’s for an IKEA-style assembly manual, so need to have detail images of connection processes. however, I’ll just make the panels thicker for images shown from a distance or delete the back side of the panel. I think that’s the best I can do. Thank you again!

Or hide the edges on the backside as @DaveR suggested…

If it’s that, you will probably use a parallel projection camera and Layout for producing the final work.

Usually Layout renders these better. Just try it at the scale you want in Layout and see if that happens, because I’m guessing it won’t.

(From all the complaints I have from Layout, quality of output certainly isn’t one. It’s actually great!)
