Just my humble opinion, I think improves on Depth Cue are necessary!
Since a started used this amaysing program called Sketchup, I notice that simple problem that never was resolved in SU/LO! The program has the Depth Cue tool, and I don´t see anybody using this tool. I think it´s because it´s not necessary, unless the authors do something about the improves on it, for example: the Depth Cue can be a tool that when you active and the camera view was selected on parallel projection, the line weights are becoming thinner as the distance of the drawing is the PLAN OF THE SCREEN, and not the CENTER OF SCREEN like it is actually.
Sorry about the english, and thanks for any person who answsers me!
Has this ever been addressed? I just tried to use Depth Cue with Hybrid rendering and it looks identical to the Vector render except for adding in textures. Line weights are all the same.
I’ve exaggerated the lines in Sketchup to see if scaling was an issue, but it doesn’t seem like it helps
The line weight thing has been addressed in LayOut and is controlled through the Tags section of the SketchUp Model panel. You can also change the color of the lines and select a variety of dash styles if needed.
Here I’ve set the line weight for the vise chop to 2 pt. The vise hardware is set to 0.60 pt. and the tag for the bench top is set to 1.5 pt.
Alright. Then the answer is No. It hasn’t been addressed.
I know it isn’t the same thing but adjust lineweight via tags IS the way to change them in LayOut. Or explode the viewport so the vector linework becomes LayOut drawing entities and adjust stroke weight. Not a good option in most cases though.
No it wouldn’t because Depth Cue is a raster thing like Sketchy styles.
Thanks for the suggestion @DaveR.
I’m aware of the Tag line style modification and definitely take advantage of it when I can.
I may be able to use it for some views, but because of the nature of my TAGS they are not really organized by depth.
Exploding the view would definitely work, but then that’s destructive and wouldn’t update when changes invariable occur.
A simple script to adjust the line weights based on Z-Depth shouldn’t be that hard, it’s just probably not a top priority so it keeps getting pushed back the development cycle.
*edit: I think I can use nested groups (which my boss will hate) to isolate objects. Hopefully the topmost TAG in the hierarchy takes precedence when styling in Layout.
