Line drawing left when hide perimeter tag

Hexagon B May 1~.skp (278.2 KB)

Hello,

Picture #1: There are doorways into the slanted walls. Everything looks perfect.

Picture #2: I hid the tags for the perimeter & a line drawing outlining the doorway is there. So, I tried erasing it.

Picture #3: Now, when I unhid the tags, a wall is missing.

My solution is to live with the line drawing and not erase it. Could that present a problem?

You have tagged the edges, all geometry should remain untagged, only groups/components should be tagged.
You are also working with the backup file, the tilde in the file name tells us this.

I’m confused about “only groups/components should be tagged”.

My protocol for making a tag is this,

  1. Select that part that is to become a component.
  2. Right click on it and click Make Component.
  3. Enter a name for the component and copy the name in my clipboard.
  4. Click Create.
  5. With the part that became a component still selected, open Tags and click the plus sign on the left.
  6. Paste the name from my clip board to the tag.
  7. Select the same name from Entity Info.

So, how would the edges get tagged?

Download the plugin cleanup 3 or default tag geometry to untag the faces and edges that could be assigned with any of the tags you created. You probably didn’t assign the tags to the geometry but if you explode a group or component nested it will automatically acquire the tag of the main group or component.

Your protocol looks correct. Just make sure the component is Selected and NOT open for editing.

A quick test to see if everything is untagged it to select everything in a component. If Entity Info shows Untagged, you’re good. If it doesn’t show Untagged, that means you have at least one tag selected (and they should all be Untagged!). Here’s what others are pointing to:
