Learning SketchUp: A framer's perspective

I love framing as well. On several occasions I have grabbed my bags and helped a framing crew build my design.

I can relate to the 2D first. In my youth, I was going to be a carpenter. Helped build many houses. The builder used only a catalog that had an artist conception of the finished home and a basic floor layout with minimal dimensions. Usually just the overall outside size and room square feet. No computers or calculators in those days!

…until you make it in paper, chipboard and foamcoare. (I have a local competitor way more successful than me that posts constantly on social media that they still work this way.)

Actually it was in the builder’s head. Always amazed me what he could do.
