Before anyone suggests I update my version of Sketchup, I am running the latest (SketchUp-2025-0-633-273), downloaded yesterday. The problem I am about to describe was happening before, with SketchUp-2025-0-574-244. The odd thing is that it started a few days ago. I do recall any changes to Sketchup, no new extensions or the like.
Well, I exported a 138MB file to LayOut. What is happening is that with Preserve Scale ON it does not preserve scale. The viewport shows the yellow triangle at the bottom and it does not go away even when I update the model. Another problem is the fact that I cannot change the scene that appears in the viewport.
Is the Auto render check box ticked in the SketchUp Model panel?
Does the SketchUp Model panel show the Reset button in the Camera properties section?
If Auto render is not enabled and/or the Camera Properties have been modified (Reset button shown), selecting a different scene will not change the camera because the scene’s camera properties have been overridden.
That’s why the yellow triangle remains even after updating the SketchUp reference. LayOut’s telling you the viewport needs to be rendered. This would also be why the viewport doesn’t show a different scene when you select it. It would do that when it renders the viewport.
That’s good news. I think we’ve talked before about the consequences of modifying the scene camera properties in LO.
Thank you!
As for Preserve Scale, it seems to be working as expected with Auto rendering enabled.
@Dave, Thanks for your help. It is working now. It is amazing that in all the years I have been using Sketchup I had never camo across this situation. Thus I did not know how to deal with it!
