Layout text lists, need more than one level

Hi
I’ve been using layout for a long time. I love it
But…
The text editor is pretty lame.
I like to write specifications in layout but have always been frustrated by the fact that you can only make one level of list in the text editor.
I tried importing rtf text and the list numbering still doesn’t work.
I’d like to make a list like this

But when I import this as rtf the list sequence isn’t the same.
I can only add one media file so I can’t show what I mean

You can’t reply to this thread and add it?

I don’t understand what you mean?

Sorry I see what you mean
This is what the previous list looks like in layout when I import it as an rtf

Hi @thobson … the text editor could use some improvements (columns please!) but I’ve found it does most of what we need it to do, including spec writing.

These were copy and pasted from AutoCAD. We had to reformat the entire sheet though. I suggest doing one paragraph to get started and using COPY STYLE/ PASTE STYLE to format the rest.

If I remember correctly, in order to achieve alternating between text and number prefixes …

  1. At the bottom of the Text menu, select Show Ruler.
  2. Cursor at the start of the line to be indented. Hit TAB.
  3. In the List drop down at the top, select the list style you’d like.

LayOut will continue to number with the indented level style you selected until you outdent.

I hope I understood your question correctly and hopefully this helps. Good luck!
