Layout text is irregular

Text in Layout 2026 does not come out even, although all my text is 10 point and regular, some of the lines of text look like they are bold and some look like 9 point.

What’s the font?

Can you share an example LO file that shows this?

Are you still using Windows 10 as indicated in your forum profile?

I’m seeing something similar - what I found is that the font is changing line to line depending on how I edit the line. If I delete to the back of the line the font changes (to whatever I think was originally chosen in the template or text block), if I leave 1 letter at the front, type in my notes, then go back and delete the first character it works. I have not been able to document this with a video or file a bug report, to busy getting production out this week and next.

The font seems to be one of those emulating old ISO stencil lettering used in manual drafting. Some of them have quality issues. Does it work the same if you try something bog-standard, like Arial?

The font is Bahnschrift, and I am using windows 11.

The screen shot in the original post captures my issue well, you can see that some lines look like bold and some not, and line 2 and 5 are clearly smaller than the rest.

my employer wont allow this file in the public domain, he is precious.

Thanks

You are right, it works with other fonts, must just be Bahnschrft that doesn’t want to play.

cheers

That has been known to be a troublesome font for some users. I just made a text box in LO2026 using Bahnschrift. This is what I got.

Another one with all caps.

Please update your forum profile.

You seem to be in luck, or then you have one of the better versions. When I last checked it out, the font seemed to circulate the Internet in many incarnations. Maybe a good option would be even to get a paid version, if it exists.

Banschrift and Architext are the two fonts that have given people most trouble in SketchUp over the years.

Just one more check: Have you turned your Display and Output quality to High in your Document Options? A very thin font like the one used might have difficulties displaying correctly if the screen pixels are large. Did you try what PDF output of your LayOut page looks like?

I don’t know. It was shipped with Windows 11 I think.

Thant could be. I’ve seen reports going back to before 2020 of issues with Bahnschrift especially related to PDFs.

Flux Architect is another one that is problematic. That one is just poorly made.

Those are good suggestions. Might have to do with screen resolution and the export to PDF might be different. Or it might be worse. I don’t know if Adobe has improved their support for that font.
