Layout - is it possible to create something like this?

Hi,

I want to create a slope with a bunch of different trees on it - just a 2D elevation, simple view of trees I am using. Do you think Layout would be best for this? Any advice on where to get the best looking trees that I can use, as well as drawing the slope!

Thanks!

The first two you could ‘make scaled drawing’ to draft the basic shapes to scale and then have a look in the scrapbooks for trees and people. You’ll probably need to do some internet searching for 2d CAD trees and people then decide how you handle them in LO (scale, line weights, fill, etc.) The third would be a mix of SKP and LO

Honestly I would do it in SKP and then add details / graphics in LO. There are lots of 2d people, pets, trees in the 3dwarehouse. You can edit their colors and place them on a slope you create and setup a 2d elevation view.

Well this is a subjective term. 3D warehouse has many 2D tree components available. I’ve found that Daniel Tal’s collection works for 99% of my needs.

This is assuming you will or have placed your trees in SketchUp on your slope. You could alternatively place more stylized trees just on your slope section cut directly in LayOut using the tree symbols provided in the Scrapbook, or import your own DWG from where ever.

I agree with @bmike the best way is to use SketchUp to create a scene then you can finish in Layout. I have recently tried out Holygon Landshape its quite easy to use compared to other Terrain modeling Ive used. You might have to use stacked view ports in Layout to get the results your after. They have a handful of video tutorials that might inspire you.
