Layout frozen - can not save

Having twofold problem;

  1. Layout will not auto render. PC’s blue doughnut (similar to Mac rainbow wheel) keeps flickering with no progress. I can not seem to resolve the yellow caution triangle. In fact the program opened with the flickering blue doughnut yet I was able to make changes to the Layout file. I then checked auto-render to no avail.
  2. In the above state I decided to save changes and quit the program, reopen and see where things stood. However, it seems I can not ‘save’ nor cancel the ‘save’. The program is ‘frozen’. I can’t even quit the program.

Any insight appreciated.
