Tried it, unfortunately still didn’t fix the issue. Thanks for your help though Dave
Sorry it didn’t change anything. Hopefully Adam will have some input when he gets a chance to look.
(watching in weird amazement)… please upgrade. By the way - we’ve released 2025.0.3 today, so please upgrade.
On Mac, we use their builtin ability to control kern & ligature:
Maybe this way too late…
But,
The experimental graphic option.
Will do this.
And in 2025.
At least on both of my Mac’s. Studio / MacBook M4
It will cause all sorts of sizing and layout issues.
The weird thing, @Barry, is that the export is right on my machine but not Ashlee’s. Same graphics engine in both cases, too. What other factors would be involved in the appearance of text when exporting?
Experimental causes issues only in working space, not in export… so, yeah, its a bug, but it makes things so quick I will work with it being weird (but when editing a text block it looks correct, when exiting out it looks weird).
@DaveR I think export only uses classic engine to generate PDF… so there must be something else going on…
I agree there’s something else going on. That was my point.
I wonder if the font versions you are using are identical, and how to check that.
I believe this looks the same @DaveR
I agree @ashleemcfarlane28.
The filename is totally different. @DaveR has Raleway-Regular.ttf and @ashleemcfarlane28 has RALEWAY-VARIABLEFONT_WGHT.TTF that suggests a variable-weight font.
I missed that.
I had to dig but I did find the variable version you show. It is different from the one I have. I got the Raleway fonts from Google Fonts. You could get those and use them instead to see what you get.
Curiously, even after installing the variable versions of Raleway, your LO file shows you are using the regular Raleway, not the variable one. DO you have both installed already?
I’m also having an issue when using the Experimental Graphics Engine with fonts. Irregardless of what font-weight I choose, it all shows up as ‘light’ (the least bold of the fonts). Turning off the Experimental Graphics Engine resolves the font issue–but then I’m using the slow and buggy old graphics engine.
This is not a huge issue for me in the short term, but could become a very annoying issue if it isn’t fixed in the long term. That said, I’m overall very impressed with the experimental engine and want to express my gratitude for those working on improving it.
It exports using the old, and in my Mac when I’m editing a text box or leader the font looks correct, but reverts to odd looking when I click out. I just roll with it and know that when I export it will be in the font that I choose.
Which works well in the short term. But I would like WYSIWYG functionality restored in the long term. Much more challenging to dial in the graphic design language of the entire document when the typefaces aren’t rendering correctly.
No argument there…
