Layout files not showing correct Date Modified timestamp in Windows Explorer

I’m struggling with confidence in knowing which LayOut File is most up to date on my system. (often having multiple versions/revisions of a file open and things like that). Nobody wants that horrible feeling of “oh cr*p! did i just save over a more recent version with an older file?!”

(…and, for context this is in a professional environment where we transfer local working files to shared servers/systems (Deltek and Forma) that log the modified dates, etc…so it accuracy matters)

I was working on a Layout file and then saved and closed it on 14 May at 2:44 pm.

Windows Explorer shows the file as being modified last on the 11th May at 8:55pm

When opening LayOut I can see the correct time in the Modified field:

I can also see the correct field if I inspect file Properties.

SketchUp files and all other files are showing correct windows timestamps.

Regardless of what the OS does you should clean up your naming system.

For me - most recent LO and SKP file are just the client code and project name.

Any files with #s or noted appended to the file is old.

This makes re-linking SKP in LO unneeded.

It also means the shortest file name is the the one I’m working on.

If I go back to a previous version I rename the current one, then rename the new one.
