Problems with dimeson display in Layout (please fix these as they are basic for draighting):

The measurement box in the corner isn’t resizable or configurable — that one’s a genuine limitation and worth adding to the feature request category if it isn’t there already.
The precision of the dimensions you place, though, is adjustable, and it’s probably what’s making them hard to read. Select a dimension, then in the Dimension Style panel set Units to Millimetres and choose the precision you want. To make it the default for everything new, set it in File → Document Setup → Units instead — the Dimension Style panel only changes what’s currently selected, which is why it can feel like the setting doesn’t stick.
One caveat: raising precision often reveals that the underlying model isn’t as round as it looked at 0mm precision. If numbers show up as 2399.7 rather than 2400, that’s the model telling you something, not LayOut being wrong.
