Layout 24.0.553 graphic errors

Since version 2024. I have errors in my layout:

  • In random locations in views or behind views, colored areas display. They also export to PDF. Sometimes they dissapear when I change to another view mode (raster, hybrid, vector)
  • I have a MS surface studio laptop with Intell Iris (r) XE graphic card.

Does anyone have similar problems or a solution for this?

You could try turning off the “Experimental graphics engine” (Preferences>Performance) if it is turned on.
Also check the Intel webpage for update to your graphics driver.

ok, thx. The Experimental Graphics engine’ was already off. I will update the graphics driver and see if that helps.

I also updated the graphics driver. It didn’t help. So now I asked sketchup helpdesk to have a look.

One thing comes to mind: Is your model very large or far away from the model origin?
Another: Is the Background on or off in your Sketchup viewport?
Post your LayOut file if possible for others to take a look. Does this happen with only this file?

Perhaps if you share the LO file we can help you sort out the issue.

Hi, thx for thinking with me!

The model is quite large because it is an urban plan, the origin is right in the middle.
The background is white in the viewport.
It happens with big urban planning files since I use sketchup 2024.
I cannot share the Layput file, because of confidentiality.

If sketchup helpdesk can fix it with me, I will post the solution here.

Graphic issues are common when the model is spread out over very large areas.

So you started a ticket with SketchUp Support?

The problem is that my projects are getting bigger…
I started a ticket with Sketchup support.

I also remember that someone has had the same problem. Maybe @colin remembers it too.
Yet another question: Are you using a Windows screen scale factor larger than 150%?

I can’t remember anything exactly like that. @Barry may have seen it.

Ok, I had help from Sketchup support. My graphics card is not to well suited for the new 2024 graphics engine. So the advice was to go back to the ‘çlassic’ graphics engine in Sketchup:

Even with updated drivers, that integrated chip may not able to run the new Graphics Engine in SketchUp 2024, so if the driver update does not help, we need to switch your SketchUp to the Classic Graphics Engine (this can affect LayOut as well).

To do that, open SketchUp to a blank template file and go to Window > Preferences > Graphics, and set the Graphics Engine to “Use Classic Graphics Engine”, and see if that helps. (a restart of SketchUp is required for the change to take effect)

And it worked. My file is in layout and the exported PDF as it should be.

Thx for thinking with me. TOPIC CLOSED.
