Laubwerk not rendering textures

Hi
I am experiencing problems with the Laubwerk extension.
When I import a new plant or tree, the textures are imported, but when rendering, it doesn’t show up, and the plant renders black.
I can see in Sketchup materials that there is no texture. Looking in the vray material, it is also shown black.
What is wrong, and how can I fix it?
Thanks

Good question and frustrating. I haven’t used Laubwerk in awhile and today, after installing the updated Plant Player Extension (v1.0.51), I too cannot render materials. Weird. The materials are all where they should be but V-Ray isn’t looking in the right directory. I wonder if Timm Drapper is still with Laubwerk…I’m guessing the acquisition from Maxon has messed something up. So far where has been no communication or development from Maxon. Not a good sign considering the substantial investment some of us have made purchasing multiple plant kits

Update: I’ve sent a support request in to support@laubwerk.com and reached out to Timm directly to see what the issue(s) might be. Will report back once I know more.

I copied the VrayBRDF material to the BRDFDiffuce slot as an instance and did it for alle the materials and that gave me the material back, but it is time consuming and why does do that?
See the image below.
Yes, I have used a lot of money on there plant kits and I really love their solution, so really, really need it to work. Fingers and toes crossed. Thanks for helping Eric-S

Yeah the good thing, and in this case the bad thing, is that each plant consists of three variants, 3 ages, and 4 seasons…adding the maps to each diffuse texture is too much manual work to be a useful workaround. I hope I hear something back…until then it’s Cosmos or bust! ¯_(ツ)_/¯

maybe better use D5 free? freeglobal plants

D5 is not mac compatible.

I got the texture back by downgrading my Vray version to 62002.
It is the BRDFDiffuse layer that is not transparent in version 70000 and 70001.
I hope they fix it, I wish they would fix it.

I’m not sure why that layer is there at all. I assume deleting it will fix it.

As would setting the opacity to 0 (which removes it 100%)

The BRDFdiffuse naming structure is provided by the V-Ray SDK for plugins, so I assume that Laubwork hasn’t been updated for the current version of v-ray.

If someone has a skill file with one of these textures with an error in it , I’ll see if I can write a ruby script which deletes them

Greetings,

Here is a piece of info from Chaos.
Alas it seems to be quite diffucult to find the info about Laubwerk Plants have been sold.

I would appreciate if any, any info on the new, compatible version available of Laubwerk Plants.

Thank you. It seems V-Ray 7 is indeed the problem, and the solution for now is to use V-Ray 6 for compatibility. I haven’t upgraded to 7 yet, so I’ll just hang back as I usually do anyway with many “upgrades”.

Just FYI, for anyone following this: the recent V-Ray 7 Hotfix 3 update fixed this issue with the BRDFDiffuse layer. You should be able to use Laubwerk plants now with V-Ray 7.
