Interface with Model

Hello!

Poolhouse top face up.skp (679.4 KB)

I have a countertop and I placed a sink from the warehouse inside on the countertops face. I followed some instructions (Sketchup AI) to no avail. The hole for the sink will not cutout, no matter what I try. Can someone please assist me. I have attache my drawing.

The sink doesn’t have the Cut opening properties set.

Your profile indicates you are using the free web version. I don’t believe that version gives you the option to set those properties.

I presume you are using this in a hobbyist capacity so probably your best option is to simply edit the counter to add a sink cutout.

Darn it! Ok, I’m a woodworker creating a countertop for a client and I need the exact measurements for the countertop boards. The sink was used as an added affect to show the client what it would look like. I tried to just create a cutout (without the sink) and was unsucessful. Thanks, Dave!

Please upgrade to Go or Pro so you are it in violation of the license agreement.

Oh wow! I did not realize I was violating the license. I certainly do not want to be doing that! How am I violating it though? Just curious. Thanks!

The cut opening wont give you the recommended template cut out. If you have the sink model number you can usually get the template dimensions on line. I always make my own hole. You can edit into the countertop. Then use the tape measure tool to make 4 guides that fit under the sink flange, then hide the rest of the model and make the hole and push it to create the opening.

I suppose if you had the template dimensions you could edit the sink component to have geometry that would cut an accurate hole.

Thanks, bmike. I am not using it the way. When I said my client, that was just a nice way to say, my wife. The license policy is good to know though. Thanks for sharing it as one day I may venture off into commercial work.

Nicely sidestepped! If I called my wife a client, I’d have my head in my hands.

Thanks! She feels like my client! Every time I finish a project for her, there is always another one waiting behind.
