Importing and Using Images

Is it possible to import an image then scale it to match the scale of an existing drawing?

I’m trying to model a large residential entrance doorway with sidelights. The image I’m trying to reproduce doesn’t have dimensions. Even if it did I suspect that the door would be the usual 3/0 x 6/8 and I want to size if for 3/6 x 7/0.

It seems that if I could import the picture and scale, my task would be far simpler.

Yes. After importing the image make a component of it. Open the component for editing and using the Tape Measure tool, measure between two point at a known distance and type the correct distance. Press Enter. I like to add crossing guides or an eedge to measure although that’s not a requirement.

Thanks, Dave!!

I managed to copy the image, save it, then import it into SU Make; but I can’t seem to make it a component. Is that a limitation of my skills or of the Make version?

Place guidelines like I show in my GIF, select them along with the image and then make a component.

I’d forgotten that they added the ability to make a component containing just the image sometime after 2017.

Hi Dave, did you use an extension to scale the image? If so, where can I find it?

No extension at all. Just the Tape Measure tool as I indicated in my first reply to @rabbithutch
