Imported DXF but only seeing 2d profile

I have imported some supposedly dxf components but they are actually just visible as a 2d outline, I need to convert these so I can extrude them Can someone please point me in the right direction for selecting each one and turning them into a profile which I can then extrude.

They should be 30mm across the flats.

I opened each component or group, drew a rectangle on the base plane, and then selected all and did right-click->Intersect Faces With…Context. I had to repeat this twice to get all the outline edges to cut the base plane. Then the outline defined a face I could extrude using follow-me.
