How to delete Directory Folders

I am trying to cleanup my old Sketchup folders (i.e. compnents, materials, etc). The older versions of the programhave been delted. When I try to delete the old default folders that are empty I get an error message that says, “The operation can’t be completed because “My Sketchup 3” needs to be downloaded.” Any ideas as to what to do.

These folders reside in the Library folder.

This folder is normally hidden when you click on the Go Menu in the finder.

You can see this Library folder if you press and keep pressed the Option Key the open the Go Menu. While still holding the Option key, chose Library.

Once Library is open, find the folder named Application support. Open it and scroll down until you see the folders named SketchUp NNNN where NNNN is the version of SketchUp. Delete what you want, the whole folder, the plugins folder, the Components folder or whatever.

An even quicker way: Open the SketchUp settings window and choose the Files pane. For each kind of file, at the right edge of the window there is a folder icon. If you click that, a Finder window will open on the folder for that kind of support file.

Yes, but the OP wrote that the older versions of SketchUp have been already deleted. So, it is impossible to run SU to access the settings window.

Thanks for the try. Yes I was to delete folders from the Libray folder. However, that did not help me get rid of the old folders in my Documents Folder. I still get an error message that says “The operation can’t be completed because “My Sketchup 3” needs to be downloaded.”

Try: select the folder in the Finder, then hit cmd-delete. If this doesn’t work, try resetting permissions using the Disk Utility app and then deleting the files.
