That doesn’t matter, if you type the correct distance, it will move that distance…

You can select the geometry to move, then move it the desired direction several inches with your cursor for clarity, then enter your actual move (1/16") in the box and Sketchup will move just 1/16" as you wanted.
Push/Pull works exactly the same way.
