For example I’m going to do a wall design for a customer and drag a moulding profile around some wall areas. Rather than drag different profiles to show the different profile options isn’t there a way to easily substitute them?
Profile builder would be my first choice.
I’m envisioning being able to click on a profile and it be reflected in the model wherever its being used. That would allow me to go from one profile to another without doing the erase, follow me over and over. Would it do that?
Profile Builder can do that. I would probably just use a generic profile in overall views of the model and show short sections of the different moldings. they could be added in a SketchUp file and given different tags. Then just change the visible tag for the viewport as needed.
Yes, Check out the Youtube videos they put out they are fairly short and I remember ones that address that exact issue. You can have a library of profiles and once applied to the model you can swap the profile and the instances in the model update.
