How about an Issue Tracker for all models

rather than relying on Likes to assist in determining a models quality…

I propose an additional category where problems can be bought to the authors attention and repaired models can be uploaded for their consideration as replacements…

A simple use case is:
a user [OP] uploads a broken skp…
I fix the layers and upload with my comments…
someone else then d/l’s my version and fixes another item…
the OP incorporates the changes into the replacement for the original…

the ‘repairs’ stay ‘attached’ until the improved version is available or the whole lot are removed by the OP…

Very good idea, theoretically.

But it would have to be implemented along some kind of reputation system to avoid spam-hell or just hell.

Misuse case:

JoeEdit: Here’s some modifications to your bungalow model!
JoeModeler: Thanks!

13 years old JoeModeler opens JoeEdit’s SKP only to finds the walls painted with textures inspired by sexe / hate or [insert your favorite taboo here]…

good point, but no reason the Trust levels couldn’t carry over from here…

or you apply for them, like we need to register as developers…

I agree it could be done. Discourse has a Ruby API and the user’s trust level info is available through it.

Badges could be given to users for modifications voted as helpful by the original modeler for instance.

It would take a lot of work to integrate and lot of ressources both material and human to manage though but I like the idea.
