People assume modelling small stuff for 3d printing is simpler than modelling big stuff.
it’s not, because you have basically 0 margin.
like here. This is a criterium, a classic 2mm lead holder. It used to be made of aluminium, lost my OG one from the 90’s, and now I have this cheap plastic version.
I lost the pusher. can’t push / retract leads anymore. this is the 4rth iteration, first was just a bit too small, second was too thick, third was ok but not enough friction, final one has an extra bump ring in there to hold it in place.
(ok, it was just an excuse to play with calipers)

other than that, did a few 3d models for the company I’m working for, Adebeo. The team needed some new material to base communication onto, a parisian living room, and a beach. Or at least something summer-y.
this was the quick model, lots of mouldings, I had a couple photos to start from, but it was a rush job (3-4h before going back to training sessions) so I picked furnitures that had the same volume / idea as in the photos.
Then my colleague Chloe redid part of the home staging, at this point we have this understanding, I’m way faster than her at modelling, but she crushes me in matter of home decor (and fashion) taste. It’s a good match.
(her version is a lot closer to the original photos. also, she removed one cast iron heater. I wonder why. don’t the people on the right side have a right to get some heat in winter ?)
Same idea with the seaside, it’s based on an actual place 2km from my new home, my brother in law works there as a chef.
I started out, thinking I would model the restaurant, but off course, as I wasn’t teaching, it meant I was available for some tech support and video recording, so I had to give it to her empty like that. She still managed to do a couple beauty shots from the terrasse as our holiday post.
stacking rocks is fun. so is modelling a beach. it’s like regular terrain, but you don’t have to bother about the lack of grass or having to add plants.
I’m on a break for the next 2 weeks, so I’ll return to some 3d printing and useless modelling. unless I take a giant nap.
