@Herman77, it is recommended to do with as few guides as possible. Or even without any guides. This often makes managing your model easier. Also when making a ‘SketchUp Solid’, make it a habit to have only front (white) faces on the outside.

This is especially important for 3D printing as it tells your slicer on wich side of the face the printing material has to be.

For renders it is indeed important. ■■■■, I remember the first time I rendered a half hearted attempt at a spaceship and the textures applied to it. It was a mess. Thank FSM for FFlipper back in the day…
