Help with vault modeling

Hello.
Pretty new here. Wanted to see if somebody can help me on how to construct this detail on an arched vault. I will attach screenshot….i had some idea with making it a solid than trim it with another vault that is 45 degrees rotated with top cut off. But maybe i am missing something much simpler.
Thanx in advance!

I’m not sure what you’re looking for differently. Make a vertical plane rotated 45° on the centerline of the rib, then offset each side and intersect with the vaults, or is that what you already did?

Omg,sorry. Forgot to mention the red model iz not mine. Trying to do something similar. Imported it from a frends Autocad

But,yes! Thank you. Sounds easy enough!

So something like this?

I used Move/Copy copies of the intersection curve between the two vault walls placed at the appropriate distance along the walls. These I connected with the Line tool. I divided those two short edges into two segments and welded them. (required for the next step.

I used Extrude Edges by Rails from TIG’s Extrusion Tools (Sketchucation) to create the surface of the bevel.

I used Rotate/Copy to make additional copies for the other three corners. These groups were exploded and the unwanted geometry was erased leaving the bevels.

Thank you. Did the same, only used Curviloft to join offseted curves…took me an two hours to figure it out,i thought i’ve must have been doing something wrong…

Thank you very much!

Curviloft was my initial thought but I didn’t get clean results with it. I also tried the Bevel tools in Round Corner and Fredo Corner.

Round Corner: I don’t like the way the bevel gets wider toward the top and there’s a lot to clean up.

FredoCorner. Better but still geometry to fix.

I quickly tried what I described and it worked out. Here are some screen shots. Some solid tools outershell and some intersect plane with model or context was used.

Another quick version using Tig’s Extrude edges by vector to object.

Just to finish that off as I came home and had left the model open, may or may not have been to the pub.
