Help me import this BEHEMOTH Sketchup model

Hey I have found this Sketchup file online, not my model, and I really want to use it. Problem is, it’s stupidly huge. I’m talking 2GB large (which means it’s in MAJOR need of optimisation) and when I try to load it on my computer, Sketchup naturally hangs and uses most my RAM for ages. Even with the most basic bog standard style activated (wireframe, no profiles).

I could naturally give up on such a stupidly huge file but I’d like to use it. Anybody have any ideas as to how to get it to run? Or any way of cleaning it up without opening it?

I have an Intel Core i7 9700 CPU, 16GB RAM and integrated graphics which…isnt ideal I know but I’m stuck

This is the file

The model is imported from other software. Most of the faces are divided by hidden edges.
There are 21 million edges and 13 million faces.

Textures are incredibly big

This is the file after reducing the textures but it’s big too.

This is after simplifying faces to 50% (could be different than the original one)

1,8gb but it’s version 8 so in version 24 it should be about half.

nothing to purge, oddly. but 136 materials are above 500px

(and many are just… black.)

you see the statue’s hairs ? 2,9M entities, 2 statues, 5,8M total.

that wall of grey things represents a total of 5M too

it’s not a file, it’s a black hole

Goodness gracious just as I expected lol

Thanks so much for cleaning up but I really don’t think it’s worth it after all :joy:
