In the attached example I’m trying to draw the locking loop wire that will be used in the drawing of the locking hasp hardware.
The oblong drawing with the circle on the outer edge is my attempt at using the Follow Me tool to have the circle form the wire, but the Follow Me tool can’t seem to turn with the arcs at each “corner”.
What am I doing wrong? How can I draw the loop wire if I don’t use the Follow Me tool?
You’re running into SketchUp’s minimum face size issue. Use the Dave Method to model that.
BTW, it would be easier to see that you have issues with your geometry if you defer applying materials until after the geometry is completed correctly. Note with the Face Style set to Monochrome there are obvious missing faces.
Here’s the rifle case I designed with help from those assembled here. I asked about drawing egg crate foam in another thread.
The case dimensions are based on a Ruger 10/22 rifle with scope and an old Ithaca shotgun. I think it would accommodate 2 rifles with scopes attached. The old Ithaca double barrel shotgun was my dad’s that he used about a century ago.
The materials are 9mm Baltic birch plywood (cut diagram shown on 55x55 sheet) and walnut strips for the banding. I drew the locking hasp catches and piano hinges and the carrying straps using products shown on Amazon.
