Having trouble moving blocks up

Hi, I’m doing the fundamentals tutorials. trying to move some blocks up using inference but I can’t seem do it. See video below. What am I doing wrong here?

Could be the blocks are components with the “glue to” property turned on.

Or try the up arrow key for inferencing. (as stated under your modeling space..)

They aren’t glued, because I’ve moved them around freely prior.
I selected them both individually then moved them.

Please share the skp file so we can see for ourselves exactly what you are dealing with.

It’s not my file, it’s sketch up fundamentals tutorial, Move tools 1 basics.
It’s just a simple move exercise.

In fact, the green block is glued to the top of the desk! You can confirm this by right-clicking it and seeing that the “unglue” item in the context menu is not grayed out. If you click that menu item, the block becomes free to move in any direction. When you have both it and the blue block atop it selected, the gluing of the green block dominates where you can move the pair.

I didn’t re-do this lesson to see, so I’m not sure whether this was mentioned or if you were supposed to discover it on your own. But that is what causes your issue.

Hi, it doesn’t really matter. I am trying to stack the blocks on top of each other (vertically) and it doesn’t matter if I have one or two. I still have the same problem. Not able to stack the blocks. Using the up arrow doesn’t solve it either.

IT does matter.
Right click on the block you want to lift up and see if Unglue is available in the context menu.
